The American Civil Wars destruction is documented by teams of photographers including Mathew Brady (1822 – 1896) and the Irish born Timothy H. O’Sullivan (1840 – 1882), one of which is led by Alexander Gardner (1821 – 1882), these photographers had to deal with unwieldy wet plates and mobile darkrooms at battle sites.
